Status Saver works with supported media files available locally on your device after you grant access to a folder. It does not need to sign in to another person's WhatsApp account. It also cannot recover a status file that is no longer stored on your phone.
Open the status in WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business before checking Status Saver. This may allow the source application to make the media available locally. Viewing does not guarantee that a reusable file will exist on every device.
Android's system picker shows folders that the device allows you to browse. Select the status folder for the same WhatsApp app you used to view the media.
Statuses and their local files can be temporary. Save a permitted copy while the media is available; a status saver cannot recreate deleted or inaccessible source files.
On many newer Android installations, WhatsApp media is under Android/media. The examples below are common locations, not guaranteed paths. Some phones hide folders beginning with a dot, and Android may restrict access to certain directories.

Look for a .Statuses folder inside the correct application's Media directory. If your file manager supports hidden files, enable that display option. Do not grant access to an unrelated folder just to complete setup.
Android's Storage Access Framework lets an app request access to a location you select through a system interface. This is different from granting unrestricted access to all files on the phone.
Android can remember approved access, but permissions can be revoked or become invalid after app or storage changes. Some system folders cannot be selected on certain Android versions, even if you can see them.

Select the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business source that matches the app containing the status.
Use the app's folder connection option to open Android's system folder picker.

If Android permits the selection, approve access to the intended folder and return to Status Saver.
Refresh the source and check the Images and Videos filters. Save only the items you have permission to retain.
Check these possibilities before clearing app data or reinstalling anything. Clearing app data may remove local settings and private content.
Open the status in its original app, then return and refresh. Some media may not be available locally until it has been viewed.
Confirm that the selected folder is .Statuses for the right app, rather than Downloads, a general media directory or another account's folder.
WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business normally use separate folders. Connecting one does not automatically connect the other.
The status may have expired, been removed or no longer be cached locally. A missing file cannot be restored by refreshing the gallery.
If a previously working folder becomes unavailable, use the app's reconnect option and review Android's permission prompt again.
Some Android versions and devices restrict folder selection. If the system blocks a location, the app may not be able to read it through that method.
A temporary source status is not a backup. Saving a supported photo or video creates a separate copy, subject to the app's storage behavior and the permissions available on your device.
Availability depends on the source app and local storage. Do not assume it will remain accessible.
A saved file is separate from the temporary source. Check the Saved section to confirm that the operation completed.
Saved videos can use significant space. Review and delete unnecessary copies regularly.
